The piano concerto "Oceans Apart" by Justin Dello Joio, which was composed specifically for Garrick Ohlsson, a regular guest of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, made its debut under the direction of American conductor Alan Gilbert. Wilhelm Stenhammar's Serenade from 1911, Lili Boulanger's impressionistic piece from 1918 and Antonín Dvořák's festive Carnival Overture, composed in 1891, concluded the program.
